Vibrant Parks and Public Spaces

Alhambra’s parks, City Library, and public gathering places are the heart of our city. Yet, Alhambra has just 0.9 park acres per 1,000 residents according to the LA County Park Needs Assessment, below the County’s average of 3.3 acres. We should invest in parks and public spaces where residents of all ages and backgrounds can gather, learn, and play.

As City Councilmember I will work to:

  • Invest in parks and public spaces that bring people together, and explore opportunities for expansion, such as building a dog park

  • Support community-building events, such as art programming, cultural festivals, music events, and open streets events

  • Expand youth and senior programming, including at the Joslyn Center

  • Strengthen the partnership with Alhambra Unified School District to support youth and families, including exploring joint use agreements to expand green spaces

  • Support our City Library as a community gathering place by investing in facilities, technology, and programs that serve residents of all ages
