My opponent has been sharing an interview I gave in 2021 and misrepresenting my views on public safety. I want to be clear about where I stand. I believe our city should have a well-trained, accountable police department, because public safety is one of local government's most important responsibilities. I also know that real safety depends on trust. When my grandfather was attacked on a walk near our home, our family never called the police. Like many immigrant families, we worried it would only make things worse. No family in Alhambra should feel that way.

That's why I'll make sure our local police do not work with federal immigration enforcement, so every resident can call for help without fear. I'll also expand mental health crisis response for non-violent emergencies, invest in keeping people housed, and improve the streets, sidewalks, and lighting that help our neighborhoods feel safe. Alhambra is for everyone, and everyone deserves to feel safe here.
