Thriving Local Economy
Alhambra’s economy is shaped by its local businesses, which create jobs and strengthen our commercial corridors. We are considered a foodie haven, and our key local businesses make Alhambra the vibrant city we call home. As someone who started their own business, Matilija Lending Library and Bookstore, I understand the challenges our local businesses face, and want to support them to stay for the long-term.
As City Councilmember I will work to:
Streamline permitting and reduce unnecessary delays for small businesses
Maintain the vacant storefront registry and connect property owners with prospective businesses
Partner with community colleges to expand jobs, internships and career training programs
Connect businesses with grants, technical assistance, and other resources
Maintain the Alhambra Farmers' Market to support local farmers, food vendors, and nearby businesses
