Improved Community Safety

Everyone deserves to feel safe in the City of Alhambra. Safety is not only about emergency response and enforcement, it is also about creating neighborhoods where people feel safe in their everyday lives. Whether you're driving, walking, biking, or taking transit, our streets should be safe for all.

Public safety is a core responsibility of local government, and Alhambra should have a well-trained and accountable police department. We should also invest in mental health services, youth programs, housing stability, safe streets, and other approaches that prevent crime and crises before they happen.

As City Councilmember I will work to:

  • Expand mental health crisis response for non-violent emergencies

  • Invest in homelessness prevention, housing stability, and supportive services

  • Uphold the City’s sanctuary city policy and ensure no collaboration happens between local police and federal immigration enforcement

  • Ensure public safety tools are used responsibly, to protect residents’ privacy

  • Maintain and improve streets, sidewalks, and lighting

  • Implement Alhambra’s Mobility Plan by retooling Measure R funds (our taxpayer dollars)

  • Encourage more walking, biking, and transit trips by creating a safe and comfortable active transportation network
